Lettuce Office Principal Kara Bartelt selected for ‘Women on Top’ award 2012 by Marie Claire magazine!
Lettuce Office is pleased to announce that principal Kara Bartelt has been selected by Marie Claire for a 2012 “Women on Top” award. The award, given annually to sixteen women under 40 at the top of their career, honors women who are, “reinventing their industries and demolishing boys’ clubs from the ranks of the military to Silicon Valley.” As a design researcher, strategist, writer, professor and technologist, Kara investigates the integration of technology on the on the production, product and practice of design. The magazine focuses on worldwide issues for women around the world as well as health, beauty, and fashion topics.
Construction is continuing at a steady pace for Occidental College’s new solar array. Lettuce provided design services for the project, which is being led by physics professor Daniel Snowden-Ifft. Lettuce believed that such an ambitious project should be treated as a piece of land art, and proposed a design based on the curving geometry of a hysteresis loop.
